Basic Guidelines For Volunteers

1)  Stay in communication with your team

  • Captains – remind your teams of your schedule
  • Volunteers – if you can’t participate on your day, let your captain know in advance

2)  Make Ready Teams and Truck Teams – coordinate your schedules

  • If one or the other team must cancel (not enough volunteers, etc.), let your partner captain know so they can inform their team.  There is no point for a truck team to show up if there is no food to distribute and vice versa.

3)  Keep your Volunteer Coordinator informed

  • If your team cannot make it on your scheduled day, inform the captain and the volunteer coordinator in advance so the coordinator can officially cancel both teams.
  • If members of your team must terminate their membership on your team, tell your coordinator so they can find replacements.
  • If there are issues with the process, the commissary, quality of the food supply, the trucks, etc., let your coordinator know so the issue can be addressed.

4)  Remember, only the volunteer coordinator can cancel a team
